The Luncheon Club at St Luke’s Church was originally set up by members of the congregation at St Luke’s. Every Wednesday in term time it offers a nutritious two course meal for £5, for 40+ elderly people in the community as well as good company and a varied programme of entertainment. The function room is wheel-chair accessible.
Transport can be provided to the lunch club by prior arrangement – with use of minibuses with wheelchair lifts – which make it a lifeline to some people who are isolated and live alone.
Roy and Mary Hansell BEM have been involved with the Luncheon Club for many years and continue to support it, although we are delighted to say that many new volunteers have recently become involved as the Hansells have stepped down from the day-to-day running of the club.
If you would like to come along, or are thinking about volunteering, please contact Maria Willis the Club Co-ordinator.
